William Oscar Cropper


William Oscar Cropper, 87, born in Burtonville, KY and resided in Wilder, KY., died on March 25th at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Ft. Thomas, KY. William served in the Navy during WWII and retired as an insurance agent for Prudential Life. He was an OMI, UC graduate, active member of Asbury United Methodist Church, and an avid carpenter. William was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Edgar & Alene (Reeder) Cropper; Son, David; Sisters, Margaret Himes and Jenny Myers, and a brother, Tom Cropper; Grandchildren, Alicia and Ryan Colvin. He is survived by his wife, Christine (Thompson) Cropper; Son, William Jeffrey (Nikki) Cropper; Daughters, Marcia (Roger) Colvin, Dana (BJ) Ariapad; Brothers, Mike, Jerry and Ron Cropper, and by his sisters, Nell Milner, Middy Kline, Kathy Sponsler, and Sharon Brian. 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at the Alexandria Funeral Home on Sunday, March 30th from 3:00pm - 7:00pm and on Monday, March 31st from 10:00am - 10:45am at the Asbury United Methodist Church with the funeral services following at 11:00am. Interment to follow at the Alexandria Cemetery. Memorials can be made to: Asbury United Methodist Church or St. Elizabeth Hospice.

Janet K. Anderson


Janet K. Anderson (Nee Sansom) of California, KY ascended into the arms of our Lord on March 23, 2014 at 87 years of age at the Baptist Convalescent Center.  Janet was born January 13, 1927.  Janet worked for Campbell County Schools for 20 years before retiring. She was a former member of Silver Grove Baptist Church and a current member of Mentor Baptist Church.  She was also a Worthy Matron in the Order of the Eastern Star.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira “Alex” Anderson; her parents, Thomas and Ruth Sansom, siblings, Carroll Sansom, Richard Sansom, Frances Wells and her grandson, Jarod Mason.  Janet is survived by her loving children, Jennifer (Michael) Mason, Jim (Linda) Anderson, Janette (Ron) Kahles and Janell (Doug) Schabell and Great-Grandchildren, Miranda Mason and Madeline Mason.   Visitation will be held at the convenience of the family.  Burial will be in the Grand View Cemetery, Mentor, KY.  Memorials may be directed to the Baptist Convalescent Center, 120 Main Street, Newport,KY. 41071

Richard "Dick" Heck

Richard "Dick" Heck , 89, of Melbourne, KY, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at his home. He was a WW II Navy Veteran, served as Post Commander of Campbell County VFW Post #3205 for 8 years, member of American Legion Post #219, a Kentucky Colonel, and member of Saint Joseph Church Camp Springs, KY. He was a retired union carpenter with the Carpenter's Union Local # 698. Dick is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Glorianna (Franzen) Heck, three sons, James (Terry) Heck, Roy (Pati) Heck and Ronald (Allie) Heck; one daughter, Patricia (Greg) Schwegmann; also survived by 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 23, 2014 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Alexandria Funeral Home, Alexandria, KY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 24, 2014, 11:00 AM at Saint Joseph Church, Camp Springs. Interment in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Camp Springs. Arthur Jewell Smith

Arthur Jewell Smith, 87, of Alexandria, passed away on  March 12, 2014. Arthur operated Art Smith Gulf Station in Highland Heights for 13 years. He was a bowler at Southern Lanes and a member of First Baptist Church in Cold Spring, KY. He served his country in the U.S. Army and retired from the Ford Motor Company after 30 years. Arthur was a great father and grandfather who enjoyed taking vacations with his children and grandchildren. He was a special friend to many and never met a stranger! He would always find a story or something in common to talk about with anyone he met. Arthur was preceded in death by his two sons, Arthur "Artie", and Alan "Shaggy". He  is survived by his loving spouse of 63yrs, Grace Smith; Daughter, Robin (Condell) Jewell; Sister, Naomi McBride; 5 grandchildren. Visitation will be held Monday, March 17, 2014 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at Alexandria Funeral Home with the Funeral Services starting at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Velma Barbian

Velma Barbian (nee Rust) of Camp Springs Died on March 10th, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband  Peter and three grandchildren, Christy, Andrew and Matthew. Velma is survived by her sons, Kenneth (Marcia), Donald (Lydia), Robert (Nancy), Eugene (Paula), and James (Laura) Barbian; Daughter, Marilyn (Edward) Lauer; brother, Charles Rust; sisters, Mary Hartman, Jeanette Franzen and Agnes Baumann; 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Millard "Sonny" Moore

Millard "Sonny" Moore, 74, of Alexandria, KY passed away at his home on March 6. Sonny retired from Schadler Plumbing after 42 years of service. He was a volunteer of  the Southern Campbell County Fire Department, member of the Knights of Columbus, loved farming and served in the Army.  He is survived by his spouse of  52 years, Marilyn; Daughters, Michelle (Rick) Dischar and Melinda (Larry) Burgess; Grandchildren, Robert and Megan Lee, Brooklyn and Cody Burgess. Visitation will be held Monday, March 10, 2014 from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Alexandria Funeral Home.
