Albert F. Schack

Albert F. Schack, age 90, of Melbourne, KY passed away on Friday, December 28, 2018. He was a retired truck driver for Castellini. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Camp Springs, KY and the Catholic Order of Foresters. Albert loved farming and woodworking. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Irene Amelia (nee Ackerman) Schack. Albert is survived by his niece, Helen (Richard) Emerson; nephew, Ed (Trena) Ackerman; great-niece, Trisha (Robert) Hancock; great-nephew, Nick Baynum; great-great-nephews, Dylan Baynum, Colton Hancock, and Keith Ackerman; great-great-nieces, Brook Ackerman and Jordyn Hancock. Visitation will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Camp Springs, KY on Friday, January 4, 2019 from 10:00 am to 10:45 am with the Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 11:00 am. Angie Farwick

Angie M. Farwick (nee Scherder), 88, of Wilder, KY, passed away on Tuesday, December 25, 2018 at The Pavillion at Kenton, Covington, KY. She was a member of Saint Mary of the Assumption Parish, Alexandria, KY, She was a retired employee of Alexandria Drugs. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Angela (nee Brake) Scherder and a son, Rick Farwick. Angie is survived by her loving spouse of 65 years, Claude B. Roy Hightchew, 65, of Alexandria, KY, passed away Saturday, December 22, 2018 at his home. Carrie Ellen Wilson

Carrie Ellen Wilson, 88, of Highland Heights, KY, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2018 at Carmel Manor in Fort Thomas, KY. Carrie was born July 3, 1930 in Newport, KY to the late Ronald M. and the late Ida Mae (nee Perkins) Wilson. She worked in the Accounting Department at Proctor & Gamble for 34 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ronald M. Wilson. Carrie is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and James Morgan and many nieces and nephews. Gary L. Wickelhaus, 69, of Cold Spring, KY, passed away Monday, December 17, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Fort Thomas. Gary was a graduate of the University of Kentucky. He loved music and played the keyboard professionally. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Louise (Henry) Wickelhaus. Gary is survived by his wife , Carol Ann Wickelhaus (nee Dwyer); six daughters: Mickey Rentschler, Dr. Kathy Bain, Debbie Thoma, Bridget Bain-Grasse, Meghan Hall and Cecilia Long; Brother, Greg Wickelhaus; sister, Lisa Richie; fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Donna Claire Heise

Donna Claire (nee Haeufle) Heise, 87, of Alexandria, KY, passed away on December 15, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Ft. Thomas, KY. As a young girl, Donna attended St. Elizabeth School in Norwood, OH and the friends she made there lasted the rest of her life. After graduating from Regina High School, she worked as a secretary. Donna was a homemaker, worked at the IRS, owned and operated Jack & Jill Boutique, then retired from St. Mary’s School cafeteria. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting and school events, traveling, walking with her sisters, crossword puzzles, and spending time with family. She was a generous, loving mother whose greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife to the love of her life, Jim, for 62 years.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Isabel Haeufle, and her brother Paul Haeufle. Donna is survived by her husband, James Heise; 5 Daughters: Laurie Marzullo of Alexandria, KY, Lynn (Doug) Green of Russellville, OH, Mary Beth (Dave) Newman of Ft. Thomas, KY, Lisa Myers of Florence, KY, and Jenny (Scott) Rath of Ft. Thomas, KY; 11 Grandkids: Melissa (Todd) Brockman, Kristina (Jeff) Sheehy, Ashley Myers (Jim Anders), Benton (Megan) Newman, Melea Green, Blake (Allie) Newman, Alicia (Joe) Runser, Mason Myers (Taylor Stortz), Michael Green, Sarah Rath, and Hannah Rath; 7 Great-Grandkids: Jordyn and Kayley Brockman with one on the way, Brinkleigh and Presleigh Sheehy, Crosley and Berkley Crail, and Colton Myers; Sisters: Joyce Smith of Norwood, OH and Janet (Bob) Bergen of Kenwood, OH. Mary Jane Schack

Mary Jane Schack, age 80 of California passed away on December 12, 2018 at her home.  She was born to the late William "Bo" and Marie Schlarman on September 14, 1938. Mary Jane graduated from St. Thomas High School in 1956 and enjoyed traveling with her longtime friends, "The '56 Chicks".  She worked at Western Southern, Bishop Brossart High School and as a homemaker.  She married the love of her life, Linus on May 19, 1962.  Mary Jane was an active member of the community and enjoyed volunteering for the St. Vincent DePaul Society of Sts. Peter and Paul.  She  served as a director on the Alexandria Fair Board for nearly 20 years and also served on the Teen Pageant Committee of the Kentucky Association of Fairs and Horse Shows. Mary Jane's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life. Mary Jane was preceded in death by her loving husband, Linus.  She is survived by her four children, Mike (Janet), Jim (Milissa), Jennifer (Ron) Holtz and Laura (Bob) Richardson. Her 13 grandchildren include Miranda, Jessica, James, Zack, Erin, John, Mary Beth, Emily, Rebecca, Maria, Justin, Joe and Jason.  She had 8 great-grandchildren. She will also be greatly missed by her siblings Bill (Judy), Dan and Anne (Jack). Mary Jane was also preceded in death by her brother Bob (Betty) and her sister-in-law Mary Schlarman. Mary Jane's visitation will be held at the Alexandria Funeral Home on Sunday December 16th from 3pm til 7pm.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sts. Peter and Paul Church on Monday December 17th at 10:30 am. Donations can be made to Bishop Brossart High School Mustangs Athletic Complex or Sts. Peter and Paul Tuition Assistance program.

Edward "Ed" Hickman

Edward "Ed" Joseph Hickman, age 79, of Alexandria, passed away on  December 9, 2018 at Reston Hospital Center, Reston, VA. Ed served in the United States Marine Corp and retired after 42 years as an estimator at Wendling Printing Company, Newport, KY where he served as a Vice President. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Alexandria, KY, St. Mary Seniors, Knights of Columbus Fr. Dejaco Council #5220, the Elks Lodge, Cold Spring, and Catholic Order of Foresters. Ed enjoyed golf, traveling, and especially following all of his children and grandchildren in their sports and scholastic activities. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Elizabeth (nee Kiefer) Hickman; sister, Lois Rich and sons Ronald (1964) and Christopher (1976).  He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mildred "Millie" (nee Kilmer) Hickman; daughter, Lori (Greg) Feldhaus; three sons, Rob (Rhonda), Scott, and Jon (Missy) Hickman; two sisters, Shirley Berte and Connie Boss; 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren Visitation will be held at St. Mary Church, 8246 E Main St, Alexandria, KY 41001 on Friday, December 14th from 4:00 pm - 6:45 pm followed by Funeral Mass at 7:00 pm. Captain Stephen Robert Grace



Capt Stephen Robert Grace was born on April 14, 1988 to Robert and Christina (Daniele) Grace in St. Louis, Missouri at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center. Stephen resided in Kirkwood, MO from 1988-1996, attending Tillman Elementary School and actively participating in various community activities. He relocated with his family to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1996 when he began attending St. Mary School. Stephen attended St. Xavier High School and always exuded the ‘men for others’ motto. He began focusing on competitive swimming while in high school and represented St. Xavier at the Ohio OHSAA High School District and State Championship. It was during his high school years that Stephen met his future wife, Kelsey (Vehr) Grace. The two were married on November 10, 2012, and on April 5, 2018 were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Georgia Eileen Grace. Stephen received his commission in 2010 from the United States Air Force Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering while also competing for USAFA as a Division I Athlete from 2006-2008. Following his graduation, he was assigned to Columbus AFB, Mississippi for Undergraduate Pilot Training where he was awarded the Distinguished Graduate Award. From there, he was assigned to Luke AFB, Arizona and the 308 Fighter Squadron for the F-16 Basic Qualification Course where he was awarded the Distinguished Graduate Award and named as the class Top Gun. Following his initial qualification training, Capt Grace was assigned to the 79th Fighter Squadron at Shaw AFB, South Carolina where he became a Wild Weasel specializing in suppression of enemy air defense. He was recognized as the 20th Fighter Wing’s Wingman of the Quarter. He deployed to the Middle East in support of regional stability operations in 2014. He was named as the 79th Fighter Squadron’s Wingman and Company Grade Officer of the Year. He then moved to the 80th Fighter Squadron at Kunsan Air Base, South Korea where he upgraded to Instructor Pilot and was tasked to support the armistice agreement with North Korea. While there he was recognized as the Squadron Instructor Pilot of the year and was selected to transition to the F-35A. He attended Squadron Officer School in 2017 where he distinguished himself as the Outstanding Flight Contributor by his peers. Assigned to the 61st Fighter Squadron at Luke AFB, Arizona he completed his F-35A Instructor upgrade and was twice recognized as the Company Grade Officer Instructor pilot of the quarter and Company Grade Officer of the Year in 2018. In October 2018 he was selected to attend the premier F-35A Weapons Instructor Course at Nellis AFB, Nevada. Family, friends, love, and prayer surrounded Stephen at the time of his passing on December 4, 2018. Stephen is survived by his wife, Kelsey (Vehr) Grace, his daughter, Georgia Grace, his parents, Robert and Christina (Daniele) Grace, sisters, Shannon (Scott) Usher and Kathleen (Blake) Annen and grandmother, Betty (Kemple) Daniele. He is preceded in death by Grandfathers James Grace and Carmine “Anthony” Daniele, and Grandmother Catherine (Geers) Grace. Visitation has been planned for Saturday, December 15, 2018 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. with a funeral mass beginning at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Parish, 2853 Erie Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45208. A memorial celebration with military honors will be immediately following at Waypoint Aviation, 4765 Airport Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45226. James "Jim" Nelson

James "Jim" Nelson, age 75, of California, KY passed away peacefully on Friday, December 7, 2018 at his home. Jim served in the Army in Korea during the Vietnam Era. He was a retired carpenter for Valley Interiors, Cincinnati, OH. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, George and Margaret Nelson; siblings, Peggy Ackerman, Bob and Raymond Nelson. He is survived by his wife, Rita Nelson; daughter, Jimma (Edward) Blackshire; son, James R. Virginia Ann Case

Virginia Ann Case (nee Cuneo), age 84, of Alexandria, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2018 at her home. She was a member of St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring, KY. Music was an integral part of Virginia's life. As a gifted pianist and vocalist, she was active in the Adult Choir and the Woman's Choir for St. Joseph Church, as well as, a valued member of the NKY Community Chorus. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Virginia (nee Regan) Cuneo; brother, Raymond "Sonny" Cuneo; husband, James Lee Case. She is survived by her children, Gary (Loretta) Case, James "Ed"(Charlotte) Case, Teresa (Steve) Grotjan, Greg (Christine) Case, and Jennifer (Richard) Bazley; brothers, Jack, Jerry, and David Cuneo; also survived by 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Harry Steele

Harry Steele, age 89, of Alexandria, passed away on Monday, December 3, 2018 at The Seasons @ Alexandria. He was a retired foreman for Chester Labs. Harry was an intelligent man who had the ability to fix anything and loved all things technological. He was a lover of animals and had a comedic heart, often leaving people with a smile from the jokes he would tell. Harry possessed many endearing qualities but none greater than being a truly devoted husband and friend. He is preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Clara (nee Wathen) Steele and one brother. Harry is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Betty (nee Wehrle) Steele; nephews, Doug Wehrle, David Wilz, and Robert Wilz; nieces, Cathy Wehrle Varex, Darlene Starnes, and Coleen Graig; close friends, Darrell Brooke,  Jerry and Tina Koch Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 8th from 9:30 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at the Alexandria Funeral Home, Alexandria, Kentucky.
