A 1969 graduate of Campbell County High School, Paul studied music at Morehead State University. Jolly played clarinet and bagpipes in the Campbell County High Band, but his life-long musical career began in earnest when he picked up his first guitar at age fourteen. Jolly became a popular entertainer in the Cincinnati area during the 1970s. In the mid-1990s he, along with his then-wife Beverly Tiemeyer Jolly, established the CMA, Children’s Music Association in Blue Ash. This was an innovative studio that engaged children in music using keyboards and computers.
Throughout his life Paul held several jobs, including sales and store management for the Willis Music Company. Jolly’s passion was his music. As a singer/songwriter he self-produced one CD of his original music. A few of his songs are posted on the Reverb Nation website. In spite of the health challenges of recent years, Jolly continued to perform occasionally in Northern Kentucky and to encourage community among other musicians by hosting open-mic nights.
A memorial service will be held in Northern Kentucky on June 9, 2018 at a location to be announced. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, the Alzheimer’s Association, or just give your next waitress a really big tip as Paul would have done.
