Randy L. Gaskins

Randy L. Gaskins, 58, of Dayton, KY passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at home. He was a former mechanic for Monarch Automotive Machine Shop of Burlington, KY and served in the Marine Corps in Vietnam. Randy was preceded in death by his father, Daniel L. Gaskins, and his brother, David Gaskins. He is survived by his son, David William Gaskins, mother and step-father, Jean and Bill Stewart; three siblings, Lori Mento, Tracy Gaskins and Guy Thornberry. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at the California City Building,  4071 Union Street, California, KY 41007 from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM. Aleene Schaber (nee Chestnut), 89, of Alexandria, KY, passed away Sunday, September 2, 2018 at Saint Elizabeth Fort Thomas. Aleene retired from U.S. Shoe. Joyce Marksberry (Brann), 84 of Alexandria, KY passed away on September 10, 2018, peacefully in her home.  Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Edna Brann (Dickerson), brother, James Brann (JoAnn), sister, Mary Lou Fisher, brother, Howard Brann (Norma) and sister, Wilma Gail Brann.  She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Larry Marksberry, daughters; Monica Adams, Andrea Kemper (Bari), Kim Sears and Alison Perrine (Jim), brother, Andrew Brann (Pam), grandchildren; Peter Sears, Amanda Sears-Adams, Jacob Adams and Lauren Kemper-O'Day and great-grandchildren.  A private memorial service will be held for family and friends.

Wendy Marie Waters, 53, of Alexandria, KY, passed away Friday, August 31, 2018 at home. Wendy was preceded in death by her father, John Waters, and mother, Sherron Waters.  Wendy is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, John and Lisa Waters; a sister, Barbara Ann Seabolt; step-mother Linda Waters; two step-sisters: Rebecca Murray and Dana Faulkner; one step-brother, David Arnold. He was born on December 31, 1943 to parents Stanley and Mildred (nee Backus) Kleintank. Joseph retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He is survived by: his wife of 32 years, Gwen (nee Houp) Kleintank; son, Mike (Jessi) Curliss; two daughters, Brook (Don) Irwin and Christy Bolen; brother, Chuck Kleintank; sister, Emma Franklin; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Mary Rose Dunn (nee Cappilupo), 92, of Alexandria, KY, passed away Monday, August 20, 2018 at Highlandspring of Fort Thomas. Mary retired after 35 years from Frisch’s where she started as one of the original car hops. She helped open restaurants in many states and also served as a manager. After her retirement from Frisch’s she worked at Walmart as a cashier. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Earl J. Dunn and a daughter, Nancy Lederer. She is survived by: two daughters, Earlene (John) Eckert and Rosemary (Bill) Neiser; one sister, Jean Evoy; six grandchildren; sixteen great–grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. Willa Frances Heideman (nee Biggs), 95, of Highland Heights, KY, passed away Monday, August 13, 2018 at Ivy Knoll Caring Center Community, Covington, KY. Willa retired from the J C Penny CO, she was a volunteer at Saint Luke Hospital in Ft. Thomas and was a member of Christ Baptist Church of Cold Spring, KY. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Marion Bernard Heideman, and one brother and two sisters. John Paul Collins

John "Paul" Collins, age 77, of Alexandria, passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at St. Elizabeth, Florence, KY. He was self-employed. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a former member of the Masonic Lodge, Covington, KY. Paul lived his life to the fullest and loved spending time with his family. He will be remembered for being a great story teller. Nancy was a retired tax examiner for the I.R.S., a former EMT for the Alexandria Fire Department and was active with the Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Gary L. Thomas William Wendling Jr., age 83, of Cold Spring, KY passed away on Friday, July 13, 2018. Tom served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War Era. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring, KY. He actively volunteered putting up crosses for the Right To Life organization. He was also a volunteer for St. Vincent De Paul. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Tom is survived by his wife of 56 years, Helen C. Mary Pat was involved and enjoyed dancing, scouting, ceramics and sewing. Helen Mildred White (nee Alford), age 102, of Alexandria, KY passed into Gloryland July 8, 2018 at the Seasons of Alexandria.  A Godly homemaker married to Chester C. White for 72 years.  She was preceded in death by Chester; her parents, John Warren Alford and Lillie Painter Alford; sister, Florence Burt; brother, Woodrow Alford.  She leaves behind three children, Martha Sue (Kenneth) Hopkins, Joyce Lee (John, deceased) Christopher and Dennis Ray (Mary) White; sister, Evelyn Mae Bundy; 8 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. A member of Licking Valley Baptist Church, Helen became a born-again Christian as a girl and was baptized in the creek at 1st Twelve Mile Baptist Church.  Helen taught Sunday school to young girls for over 35 years and was a faithful and devoted wife and mother. Thomas Edward Overstreet, 86, of Silver Grove, KY, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Ft. Thomas. Thomas was born on February 6, 1932 in Covington, KY to his parents the late John Robert and Lillian (Kingcade) Overstreet. Thomas retired from Art Technology, Cincinnati, OH and was a floor guard at R.E.C.A. Roller Rink, Alexandria, KY for many years and remembered by many skaters. Thomas was preceded in death by his former wife, Anna Mae Neiser. He is survived by four children and their spouses, Bonnie (Randy) Spangler, Mary (Terry) Eshman Connie (John) Lee and Thomas (Jenny) Overstreet; two sisters, Gloria Davis and Louise Willis; also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. George Shanks, voracious reader and renowned baritone, died June 13, 2018. He was a retired Machinist from Fischer Specialty Manufacturing and lifelong member of First Twelve Mile Baptist Church. Florence (Seek) Kinney Edwards

Florence (Seek) Kinney Edwards, age 93, of Grant’s Lick, KY, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, June 12, 2018.  She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and served as hostess for 30 plus years. She was an active member of the WMU and former treasurer. She was an honorary member of the Alexandria Fair board for many years. She was retired from Alexandria Elementary Cafeteria. She was also a homemaker and took great pride in her home and was an excellent cook. She was the devoted wife of William Edwards who preceded her in death in 2004. She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Martin with whom she lived since the passing of her husband, Pam (Danny) Cade and Sally (Bob) Reis; brother, Joseph Gordon (Oma Nell) Kinney; sister in law, Florence Kinney; 9 grandchildren, Melissa (Jerry) Laker, Billy (Kathy) Martin, Douglas ( Amanda ) Martin, Amy (Dan) Razor, Bryan (Christy) Cade, Joe ( Janie ) Reis, Elizabeth (Bill) Delaney, Jeffrey Reis and Rebecca (Phil) Geiman;18 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren;  9 step-great-grandchildren; also surviving are many nieces and nephews, and her dear friend Ethel Hitch. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Norma (Cropenbaker) Kinney; sister, Alma Fern Pollitt; brothers, Lawrence (Judge) Kinney and Harold (Hod) Kinney.   
Visitation will be at Alexandria Funeral Home from 4:00pm to 8:00pm Sunday, June 17th. Anthony David Romito, 66, of Alexandria, KY, passed away quietly at home on Friday, June 8, 2018. Tony served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a retired teacher and taught in the Simon Kenton, Campbell County and NKCES Schools. He is survived by his wife, Belinda Romito (nee Caylor); children, Felix J. Helen Louise Mason (nee Rolke), age 97, of Alexandria, KY passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Cold Spring Transitional Care Center. Helen was a retired salesperson for Woolworth’s and a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Mason, Sr. and her son, Robert E. Mason, Jr.  She is survived by her children, Rich (Jennifer) Mason and Joyce (Jerry) Stortz; daughter-in-law, Linda Mason; 7 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Imogene "Jean" Back

Imogene (Jean) Miller Back, 89, of Cold Spring passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at her residence surrounded by family. She met and married James E. Back while attending Berea College. They came to Campbell County in 1954. She gave hundreds of children in Campbell County a great educational foundation as a kindergarten teacher at Alexandria United Methodist Church. She was a member of Valley Homemakers and Crazy Quilters Quilt Club. She used her love of sewing to help provide comfort to countless hospice patients through her participation in the Comfort Club of Bluegrass Hospice Care. She was a member of Main Street Baptist Church in Alexandria but also attended Christ Baptist Church in Cold Spring. Survivors include her son, Mike (Andrea) Back of Roswell, GA; daughters, Vicki (Jerry) Foley of California and Maggie (John) McGatha of Louisville; sisters, Louise Lanhan of Mason, OH; Carol (Jay) Langhurst of Chapel Hill, NC; and Geraldine (Bill) Barnes of Destin, FL; and seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Sunday, May 27 at Alexandria Funeral Home from 3:00 PM until time of Funeral Service at 6:00 PM. JoAnne Leonard

JoAnne Eva Leonard, 78, formerly of Cincinnati Ohio, passed away suddenly April 23rd, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Lillie Leonard, brother, Dale Leonard and sister, Mae Leonard Neiman and brother-in-law, Winfield Neiman. She is survived by brother, Neil Leonard (Pearl Osburg Leonard), nieces, Sarah Neiman Sturgeon (Brian), Denise Leonard Govan (Dave), great nieces, Nicole and Abby Sturgeon, Haley Govan and great nephew, David Govan, and many, many friends. She was a graduate of Campbell County High School, Alexandria KY and a graduate of Jewish Hospital School of Nursing in Cincinnati, OH. She was a retired registered nurse and spent the last 22 years of her career as a Hospice nurse in Florida. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Vine Street Hill Cemetery in Cincinnati OH. Robert Lee Baldridge

Robert Lee Baldridge, 90, of Cold Spring, KY, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Ft. Thomas. Robert was a WWII Army Veteran. He worked for CSX Railroad as conductor for 35 years. Robert was a member of the First Baptist Church of Silver Grove. He loved the outdoors and was an avid trout fisherman. Imogene Jenkins Wise (nee Rose), age 81, of Cold Spring, KY (formerly of Falmouth, KY) passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at Highlandspring of Ft. Thomas. Imogene was a longtime member of Turner Ridge Baptist Church in Falmouth.  She is preceded in death by her parents, George Rose and Ella Frances Rose Hoggatt (nee Adams). She is survived by her children, Peggy (Steve) Craig, Ricky (Tammy) Jenkins, Rosann (Tom Lutkenhoff) Jenkins, and  Steven (Rebecca) Jenkins; 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. George Clinton "Clint" Carmack Jr.

George Clinton “Clint” Carmack, Jr. of Dry Ridge, KY, passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2018, at the age of 63. Clint was born to parents George Clinton “Sonny” Carmack, Sr., and Freda Rosella “Rosie” Camack on July 30, 1954, in Alexandria, KY. Loving siblings are Terry (Linda) Carmack, Mindy (Kirk) Painter (nee Carmack), and Doug (Ella) Carmack, proceeded in death by Theresa Carmack. He grew up as the second of five children. Clint attended St. Mary’s Elementary School, and Bishop Brossart High School both in Alexandria, KY.  Activities included Alexandria Volunteer Fire Department, participating in numerous professional state speech contests, and served in the banking industry for years including Clifton Southgate Federal, and Kentucky Federal.  Clint is survived by his current wife, Jenny, children Kim Carmack (Kevin) Galbaugh, and George Clinton “Bubba” Carmack, III, stepson Brandon (Vanessa) Mitchell, and Thomas (Shamira) Mitchell, Grandchildren Devyn Galbaugh, Cayson Mitchell, London Mitchell and Lalou Mitchell. Memorial visitation will be held at Alexandria Funeral Home on Monday, April 9th from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.  Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Church on Tuesday, April 10th at 10:00 AM.  The family is grateful for the condolences, but declines flowers and donations.

Richard "Dick" Pichotta

Richard “Dick” Pichotta, 68, of Alexandria, KY, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at home. Dick was known at work, Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing, as “The Chief Painter”. He was a member of IUPAT DC-6 Mixed Trades Local # 238 and Saint Mary of the Assumption Parish. Dick also served in the Army Reserve. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Pichotta (nee Enzweiler); three daughters: Laura (Dan) Berkemeyer, Karen (Joe) Kilburn and Kelly Pichotta; four siblings: James Pichotta, Gail Connley, Jeanette (Don) Conway, and Patty (Steve) Scharstein; eight grandchildren, Julia, Tabatha, Drew, Deena, Evan, Haley, Madeline, and Bella. Paul Richard Jolly

     Paul Richard Jolly passed away from heart failure on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Ft. Thomas, KY. Paul was born on June 9, 1951 to Gordon B. Jolly (deceased) and Norma Lee (Cann) Jolly who survives. He is also survived by one sister Linda Lee Jolly and sister-in-law Diana M. Vogt. Paul was raised in a large family of close aunts, uncles and cousins and had several friends that he loved dearly. During the past year Paul began a new relationship with his biological daughter Jasmine Irvin and her family.
     A 1969 graduate of Campbell County High School, Paul studied music at Morehead State University. Jolly played clarinet and bagpipes in the Campbell County High Band, but his life-long musical career began in earnest when he picked up his first guitar at age fourteen. Jolly became a popular entertainer in the Cincinnati area during the 1970s. In the mid-1990s he, along with his then-wife Beverly Tiemeyer Jolly, established the CMA, Children’s Music Association in Blue Ash. This was an innovative studio that engaged children in music using keyboards and computers.
     Throughout his life Paul held several jobs, including sales and store management for the Willis Music Company. Jolly’s passion was his music. As a singer/songwriter he self-produced one CD of his original music. A few of his songs are posted on the Reverb Nation website. In spite of the health challenges of recent years, Jolly continued to perform occasionally in Northern Kentucky and to encourage community among other musicians by hosting open-mic nights.
     A memorial service will be held in Northern Kentucky on June 9, 2018 at a location to be announced.  Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, the Alzheimer’s Association, or just give your next waitress a really big tip as Paul would have done.

Martha M. Steffen

Martha M. Steffen (nee Geiger), age 89, of Alexandria, KY passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at the Seasons of Alexandria. Martha loved being a homemaker and was a former housekeeper for Lakeside Nursing Home. She was a member of St. Mary Church, Alexandria, KY and the Senior Citizen’s Club. Martha also enjoyed playing cards and going to Bingo and she loved to win. She was preceded in death by her son, David A. Steffen and her granddaughter, Christy Mulberry. She is survived by her children, Sue Woeste (Garry), Rose Ann Steffen (Steve), Judy Griffith (Harold), Mary Lauer (Leroy), Margaret Griffith (Tony), and Donald Steffen (Marylu); 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Helen G. Schultz (nee True), 72, of Alexandria, KY, passed away Thursday at home. Helen was a hairdresser and had her own salon, Beauty Barn and she previously worked at EJ’s. Helen was a member of Saint Mary of the Assumption Parish, Alexandria, KY and Campbell County Seniors. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Mabel (nee Hubb) True, two sisters, Susan Haynes and Marilyn Neil, two brothers, Bob and Michael True. Melvin C. Boden

Melvin C. Boden, 86, of Alexandria, KY, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Ft. Thomas. Melvin was a General Contractor (Boden Builders Inc.). A member of Alexandria United Methodist Church, Alexandria, KY, where he liked doing things around the Church with a couple other guys and they were lovingly called the "Three Grumpy Old Men". He served in the USAF with the Strategic Air Command during the Korean War. He loved woodworking and crafts which he donated and gave to friends and family. He was a big UK basketball fan. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Thelma M. Boden (nee Benedict); two sons, David Allen Boden and Rick James Boden (Peggy Marie); four grandchildren, Nathan James Boden, Seth Allen Boden, Emily Marie Boden and Dr. Sarah Ashley Boden. Mavin A. Record

Marvin A. Record, age 74, of California, KY passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at his residence. Marvin was a graduate of Pendleton County High School Class of 1962. He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran and served during Vietnam. After his service in the Army his military pride continued on as an active member of the Campbell County VFW Post 3205 and the American Legion Post 219. He retired from Cincinnati Bell after 37 years of employment. Marvin was also an active member of the Campbell Co. Historical Society, Pendleton Co. Historical Society, and Sts. Peter and Paul Parish.  He was the former Chief for the Northern Pendleton Volunteer Fire Department, a bus driver for Bishop Brossart High School, and also volunteered for the St. Vincent DePaul Society. Marvin is survived by his wife, Angela “Ann” (nee Gerhardstein) Record; mother, Martha Ann (nee Massey) Record; children, Andrea Record (William Chenot), Larry Record (Becky), Edwin Record (Tina), Rebecca Phirman (Ryan), Sarah Wyrick (Clint), Daniel Record (Lisa), Adam Record (Katie Riley), Joannah Bauer (Jeremy), and Benjamin Record (Lauren); siblings, Sanford Record (Harriet), Steve Record (Carol), Elaine Kunz (Kenn), and Lee Record (Michelle); also survived by 22 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 16th at the Sts. Peter & Paul Social Center from 5pm to 9pm.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 17th at Sts. Peter & Paul Church at 10am. Mary Linda Hervey Goebel

Mary Linda Hervey Goebel (nee Erisman), 92, Mentor, KY , passed away Thursday, March 8, 2018 at River Valley Nursing Home, Butler, KY. Mary Linda was a homemaker and a lifelong member of Mentor Baptist Church, Mentor, KY and was the pianist for 60+ years. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Henry J. Hervey and J.V. Goebel and her parents, Thomas W. and Anna Ruth (nee Jordan) Erisman. Mary Linda is survived by three children, Tom (Connie) Hervey, Linda (late Bob) Young and Ruth (Ray Cummins) Hervey; one sister, JoAnn Moore; six grandchildren, Travis Hervey, Nic (Laura) Hervey, Paul (Stephanie) McCormick, Aaron (Karen) McCormick, Jonathan (Sara) Goebel and Jeremy (Emily) Goebel; also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren. Deborah J. Stegeman

Deb Stegeman (nee Heringer), age 66, passed away peacefully at Christ Hospital March 1, 2018. Deb was a nurse for 43 years at St. Luke\St. Elizabeth Hospital Fort Thomas. Deb is survived by husband, Thomas Stegeman; sons, Ryan Stormer and Adam Stegeman; daughter, Hollie Johnson; brothers, Wayne and Jerry Heringer; also by 7.9 grandchildren. There will be a Memorial Service for Deb at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Main Street Baptist Church, 11093 Alexandria Pike, Alexandria, KY 41001, followed by a reception. Ellen “Joyce” Beal (nee Hardy), 87, of Melbourne, KY, passed away Monday, February 26, 2018 at her home. Joyce was a retired administrative assistant for the American Red Cross and also worked for Campbell County Schools. She was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Beal and a son, David Beal. Mary Lee Jolly (nee Eckerle), 87, of Alexandria, KY, passed away Monday, February 26, 2018 at the River Valley Nursing Home, Butler, KY. Mary Lee was a member of Main Street Baptist Church of Alexandria, KY. She enjoyed taking care of her home and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mary Lee is survived by her husband, Gerald “Jerry” Jolly; sons and daughter-in-laws, Barry (Susan) Jolly, Terry (Lisa) Jolly and Gary (Tracey) Jolly; brother and sister-in-law, William (Ruth Ann) Eckerle; grandchildren, Jesiah Bertsch, Lisa Petrey, Lacy Owen, Justin Jolly, Whitney Loreaux, Brady Jolly, Taylor Jolly, Grant Jolly and Reid Jolly; also survived by seventeen great-grandchildren. Shelby Renee Hodge

Shelby Renee Hodge, age 26, of Florence, KY passed away on Friday, February 23, 2018.  Shelby was a 2010 graduate of Campbell County High School.  She was a delivery driver for LaRosa’s Pizza in Florence and a member of Plum Creek Christian Church, Butler, KY. Shelby was also a 2017 graduate of the Brighton Recovery Center for Women. She is survived by her mother, Kim (Brad Stroup) Hodge; father, Arthur Hodge; brother, Stephen Hodge; grandparents, Steve and Sally Mefford; aunts, Krista (Jesse) Lyke, Claire and Karen Hodge; uncle, Todd (Laurie) Mefford; cousins, Gracie and Mitch Mefford; also survived by a host of family and friends. Shelby’s family would like to extend their appreciation to everyone at the Brighton Recovery Center for the love and support they have provided. Thomas L. Boehne, 63, of Cold Spring, KY, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at home. Tom was a retired terminal operator for Kinder-Morgan. He is survived by his fiancée, Joyce Thompson; daughter, Jennifer Donaldson (Brian Thompson); son, David Martin (Kristi); grandchildren, Kaleb, Kegan, Jude, Jocelyn & Brady; sister, Patricia Sparks (Jim); brothers, John Boehne (Joann) & Chuck Boehne (Donna); step-children, Brandon Thompson (Heather) & Paula Fryman (Rob). Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Roy & Anna Mae (Huhn) Boehne and a sister Barbara Townsley. Services will be at the convenience of the family.
