Thomas M. McDaniel


Thomas M. McDaniel, 70, of California, KY, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at home. Tom was a retired press room foreman for the Cincinnati Enquirer and an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War for which he was awarded two medals for valor and courage.  Tom was a caring and loving husband, father, and grandpa.  He had a selfless nature and was always putting others first.  He loved boating, going to the casino, and most of all, spending time laughing with his grandkids.  His mischievous sense of humor and genuine care for people made him a great husband, father, grandpa, and friend.  His love of laughter and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.  He was truly one-of-a-kind. Tom is survived by his wife Gloria McDaniel (nee Gray); two daughters, Dea Flinchum and Tammy (Michael) Clines; son, Gary (Jennifer) Snell; seven siblings, James (Margaret) McDaniel, Dick McDaniel, Carol Davies, Danny (Sherrie) McDaniel, David McDaniel, Gary (May) McDaniel and Cheryl (Denny) Parker; nine grandchildren, Jordan Flinchum, Jenny (Mike) Snell-Abel, Rachael Merrill, Misti Flinchum, Courtney (Demitri) McGowan, Tom Snell, Joel Clines, Mick Clines and Ryan Clines; six great-grandchildren, one brother-in-law Barry Gray and good friends  Darlene (Ron deceased) Groh and Les and Judy Leicht.  He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Doris (nee Patterson) McDaniel and a daughter, Karen Merrill. Visitation Monday, January 30, 2017 at the Alexandria Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until time of Service at 1:00 PM. Entombment with Military Honors will be in the Evergreen Cemetery Mausoleum, Southgate, KY. Memorials are suggested to Bishop Brossart High School, 4 Grove St, Alexandria, KY 41001 or Disabled American Veterans, 3725 Alexandria Pike, Cold Spring, KY 41076.
