Phyllis Satterlee Nelson
Phyllis
Satterlee Nelson, age 92, passed away Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 2012, at
her home in Berea, KY. She was preceded in death by her husband of
seventy-three years, Raymond Wesley Nelson, who passed away on November 14th
of this year. She was also preceded in death by a son, Timothy Nelson, and a
brother, Raymond Satterlee. Survivors include five children: Doris (Robert) Brinson,
Kenneth (Connie) Nelson, Frankye (Warren) May, Linda (Mark) Wygoda, Rebecca (David)
Evans, and daughter-in-law, Angela Nelson (Ted) Knight; 16 grandchildren, and
20 great-grandchildren. She was born November 24, 1919, in Pierre, South Dakota,
to Frank and Minnie Satterlee. She graduated from Campbell County High School
in 1938 and attended Eastern Kentucky University. She was the first woman to
receive the University’s Regent’s Oratorical Award. She married Raymond Nelson
in 1939 and taught in Campbell County School District for 10 years, both
elementary and high school. She taught several years in the Hamilton City
School District, Hamilton, OH. Her many essays and poems were published in the Kentucky Post, Times Star, and Hamilton
Journal News. Her poetry was also published by the International Poetry
Organization. She was a life-long Methodist and a member of Grace United
Methodist Church, Hamilton, OH. After moving to Berea, KY in 2010, she attended
the Berea United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November
27, 2012, at the Alexandria Funeral Home, Alexandria, KY from 10:00 AM – 12:00
PM with the funeral following at Noon. Memorials may be sent to the Berea

Nita Rafus Johnson
Nita Rafus Johnson, 39, of California, KY, passed away Thursday, November 22, 2012 at Saint Elizabeth Fort Thomas. Nita was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by a brother, Chip Rafus. Nita is survived by a daughter, Pammy Rafus; a son, Jordan Trimble; her parents, Tom & Pam Rafus and a sister, Cheryl Daniel. Visitation will be held Monday, November 26, 2012 at the Alexandria Funeral Home Alexandria, KY from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM with the funeral service at 8:00 PM. Etta Mae Rifkin
Etta Mae (Jenkins) Rifkin, 101 years old, of Cold Spring, KY passed away on November 17, 2012. She was born in Prospect, VA on 7/11/1911. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry Rifkin and daughter Beatrice (Dunn) Pryor. She is survived by daughter Barbara (George) Miller of Cold Spring, with whom she lived, Daughter Patricia (James) Howell of Bellevue, son, Harry “Tex” (Sharon) Dunn of California, step-daughter Connie (Richard) Vendeland of California and step-son Robert Rifkin of Florida; Three grandsons: Doug, Dave and Steve Colyer and granddaughters: Lora Funicelli, Kim Michl, Karen McGahee, Pam Engel, Vidki Kuhn, Julie and Melinda Vendeland; 16 great- grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; Sisters, Ami Neiser and Margie Moher and brother Robert “Walker” Jenkins. Etta retired in 1972 as a secretary for Wiedemann Brewery. Along with Harry, she took an active interest in her community of Dayton. They were a founder of Dayton Community Newsletter and she was a Dayton news reporter for the Campbell County Recorder in the mid-eighties. She was an officer for many clubs within the community and she and Harry were both members of the Bellevue-Dayton Memorial Day Parade for many years, he as president and she as secretary and publicity chairman. They both received “Keys to the City of Dayton” and a recognition plaque for their many contributions at their big 80th birthday celebration. Raymond Wesley Nelson
Raymond Wesley Nelson was born September 23, 1919 to George and Anna Mae
Nelson in California, KY. He graduated from Campbell County High School and received a B.S.
from Eastern Kentucky University in 1943, and graduated with an M.A. from Xavier University
and also the University of Cincinnati. In 1939, he married Phyllis Satterlee, and to that union
were born six children. He taught Industrial Arts at Ludlow KY High School for one year, before
enlisting in the U.S. Navy where he served from 1943-1946. He made Pharmacist’s Mate 1st
Class and served in the South Pacific. He taught Industrial Arts at Newport Jr. High in Hamilton,
OH for 9 years and became librarian at Roosevelt Jr. High, where he coached the baseball team.
He then became librarian at Garfield Jr. High until his retirement in 1984. He was commissioned
KY Colonel in 1964 for his work with young people. He was the first president of Campbell
County Rural Knothole League, having helped organize the league. He was a lifelong member of
the V.F.W. Post 3205 in Alexandria, KY and a member of the educational associations N.E.A.,
O.E.A., and B.C.T.A. He was a lifelong Methodist and a member of Grace United Methodist
Church of Hamilton, OH where he served on many committees and as an usher. After moving to
Berea, KY in 2010, he attended the Berea United Methodist Church. He is preceded in death by
his son, Timothy Nelson; brother, Robert Nelson; and sister, Peggy Ackerman. He is survived by
his wife Phyllis, having enjoyed 73 years of marriage. He is also survived by five children: son,
Kenneth (Connie) Nelson; daughters Doris (Robert) Brinson, Frankye (Warren) May, Rebecca
(David) Evans, and Linda (Mark) Wygoda; and daughter-in-law Angela Nelson Knight (Ted);
brothers, George (Joy), Louis (Linda), Jim (Rita), Dave (Sophia), John (Cheryl), and Don
(Brenda); sister, Della Nelson; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be
held on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at the Alexandria Funeral Home, Alexandria, KY from

Harry "Bill" Darlington
Harry “Bill”
Darlington, 89, of Cold Spring, KY, passed away Friday, November 9, 2012 at
Saint Elizabeth Fort Thomas. He was a retired machinist from R E Jones Crescent
Springs, KY. Bill was a member & a former deacon at Christ Baptist Church
of Cold Spring, KY. He was a WWII Air Force Veteran. He is survived by his
wife, Dorothy Harrison Darlington; a daughter, Beverly Darlington and a son,
Gary (Barbara) Darlington of Saint Charles, MO. Also survived by many cousins.

Elmer A Gebelt
Elmer A Gebelt, 87, of Alexandria, KY., passed away on November 8, 2012 at Carmel Manor in Fort Thomas, KY. He served his country in WWII. He was also a member of KY Twirlers Square Dancing Group. Elmer was very active at the St. Mary's Catholic Church throughout his life. Elmer was Preceded in death by his wife Gertrude (2008); sister, Anna Mae Burkhardt. F. Keith Reinhardt
F. Keith Reinhardt, 74, of Alexandria, KY, was born Sunday, September 18, 1938 in Grant's Lick, KY, the son of Nick and Margaret (nee Field) Reinhardt. He died Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at Saint Elizabeth Fort Thomas. Keith retired after 35 years of service at Cincinnati Bell and was a lifelong resident of Campbell County, KY. He lived a full hard working prosperous life as the devoted head of his family. He was loved by his family, friends and neighbors. He was always willing to help others and was known for doing so in his neighborhood. He enjoyed working in his lawn. Keith loved to ride his Harley and had recently transitioned to a Corvette of which he was very meticulous and proud. Keith was a long time member of NRA. Keith is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Ruby Carroll Reinhardt. He is also survived by three daughters, Wendy (Dennis) Dailey, Karen (Brian) Sansom and Kelly (David) Schout; four grandchildren, Casey Kelley, Cory Dailey, Alexandra Dailey and Nicole Schout; three brother Donald L. Reinhardt, Jon David Reinhardt and Kenneth A. Reinhardt; four sisters, M. Lynne Bamforth, Carol J. Leap Sipple, Iris B. Swift and Scheryl F. Buda. Arthur Meyer
Arthur Meyer, 93, of Alexandria, passed away on November 4, 2012 at St. Elizabeth in Ft. Thomas, KY. Arthur lived a very adventurous life. He served in the Navy and Army in WWII. He is preceded in death by his loving spouse Ada. He is survived by his sons, Carl and Arthur Meyer Jr; daughters, Sandra Meyer, Barbara Wright and Pat Schreiber; 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
