Gerald Simon

Gerald “Jerry” W. Simon, 69, of Cold Spring, KY, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2017 at home. Jerry was a retired sales representative for Kellogg. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Elizabeth (nee Hammond) Simon and a brother, Terry Simon. He is survived by his son, Eric Simon and a daughter, Amanda Crowell; two grandchildren, Evan Crowell and Hannah Simon; a cousin, Mark Simon. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Monday, January 30, 2017 at the Alexandria Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until time of Memorial Service at 7:00 PM. 
Gerry “Greek” Greco, 70, of Cincinnati, OH, formerly of South Newport, KY, passed away Friday, January 27, 2017 at University Hospital in Cincinnati. Gerry was a retire repairman for Woodhull Office Equipment and a Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War. Gerry is survived by two sisters, Dorothy Stokley and Vickie Greco; three nieces, Cathi Hildebrand, Marci Brooks and Vicki Wright. Services will be at the convenience of the family, no visitation. Interment will be in Saint Stephen Cemetery. Alexandria Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Thomas M. McDaniel


Thomas M. McDaniel, 70, of California, KY, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at home. Tom was a retired press room foreman for the Cincinnati Enquirer and an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War for which he was awarded two medals for valor and courage.  Tom was a caring and loving husband, father, and grandpa.  He had a selfless nature and was always putting others first.  He loved boating, going to the casino, and most of all, spending time laughing with his grandkids.  His mischievous sense of humor and genuine care for people made him a great husband, father, grandpa, and friend.  His love of laughter and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.  He was truly one-of-a-kind. Tom is survived by his wife Gloria McDaniel (nee Gray); two daughters, Dea Flinchum and Tammy (Michael) Clines; son, Gary (Jennifer) Snell; seven siblings, James (Margaret) McDaniel, Dick McDaniel, Carol Davies, Danny (Sherrie) McDaniel, David McDaniel, Gary (May) McDaniel and Cheryl (Denny) Parker; nine grandchildren, Jordan Flinchum, Jenny (Mike) Snell-Abel, Rachael Merrill, Misti Flinchum, Courtney (Demitri) McGowan, Tom Snell, Joel Clines, Mick Clines and Ryan Clines; six great-grandchildren, one brother-in-law Barry Gray and good friends  Darlene (Ron deceased) Groh and Les and Judy Leicht.  He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Doris (nee Patterson) McDaniel and a daughter, Karen Merrill. Visitation Monday, January 30, 2017 at the Alexandria Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until time of Service at 1:00 PM. Cleon Smith

Cleon Smith, age 61, of Alexandria, KY, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at University Hospital Cincinnati, OH. Cleon was a retired security officer for Wakenhut Security Services and an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Nathan Smith Jr. and Venna Smith (nee Jenkins); two brothers, David and Michael Smith. He is survived by his wife, Sandy Smith (nee Laws); two sons, Timothy Smith and Jeremy (Jessica) Smith; daughter, Andrea Michelle Smith; three brothers, Robert, Donald and Ernst Smith; two granddaughters Charlotte "Charlie" and Khole. Visitation Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the Alexandria Funeral Home from 9:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Chad Abbott officiating. Donald E. Augsback

Donald E. Augsback, of Highland Heights, KY, passed away on January 21, 2017 just hours before his 87th birthday. He was a long time teacher and principal for Campbell County Schools, lifetime member of Ft. Thomas Lodge #808 F&AM, and a member of the NKY Sports Hall of Fame. Don was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Barbara Ballou Augsback in 2014 and his son, Michael Augsback in 2016.  He is survived by his children, Donna (Tom) Carlisle and John (Kirsten) Augsback; daughter-in-law, Donna Augsback; also survived by 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.  Visitation will be held at the Alexandria Funeral Home on Thursday, January 26, 2017 from 4pm to 8pm with a Masonic Funeral Service at 7:30pm. Interment will be private.

Irvin L. Class

Irvin L. Class, age 95, of Alexandria, KY passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Ft. Thomas. Irvin was a retired auto parts manager for Fuller Manufacturing in Falmouth, KY. He was a WWII Army Air Corp veteran, member of the American Legion Post 219, and also attended the Immanuel Baptist Church, Cold Spring, KY.  Irvin was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Vera Hogle Class and his son, Scott Class.  He is survived by his son, Mark (Mary Morgan) Class; grandchildren, Zachariah and Lauren Class; niece, Marlene Heideman; nephew, Don Hogle.  Visitation will be held at the Alexandria Funeral Home on Thursday, January 19, 2017 from 10am to 12pm with the Funeral Service immediately following at the funeral home beginning at 12pm.  Interment with military honors will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery Mausoleum, Southgate, KY.

Debra Ruth McGuire (nee Harrison), age 66, of Alexandria, KY passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Hospice Edgewood.  She is survived by her husband, Mickey McGuire; daughter, Ginger McGuire Bruner; brother, Greg Harrison; grandchildren, Ty Michael Bruner, Kyle Ross Bruner, and Kevin Michael Bruner; great-grandchildren, Charlie Rose Sallee, Oakley Elizabeth Bruner, and Laney Ruth Bruner.  Memorial Services will be held at the convenience of the family.  Memorial donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society. Lena A. Scharfenberger

Lena A. Scharfenberger, age 92, of California, KY passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Ft. Thomas. Lena was a volunteer for the VA Nursing Home in Ft. Thomas.  She was also an active member of Alexandria United Methodist Church and the Happy 100 senior club. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Robert L. Scharfenberger in 2014. She is survived by her son, Brent (Anita) Scharfenberger. Visitation will be held at the Alexandria Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm with the Funeral Service immediately following at the funeral home beginning at 12:00 pm. Ronald P. Kremer

Ronald P. Kremer, 80, of Cold Spring, KY, entered into eternal peace Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Saint Elizabeth Edgewood. Ronald was a retired partner of Kremer Electric. He was a realtor, former volunteer fireman with the Cold Spring Volunteer Fire Department and also worked at Saint Ann Convent, Melbourne, KY. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Catherine (Neltner) Kremer and a brother, Gerald Kremer. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carol A. Kremer (nee Wagner); five children, Mary Kay (Mike) Casebolt, Vikki Kremer, Lori Kremer DVM, Donald (Sherry) Kremer and Beth (Scott) Kramer; brother, Wilfred Kremer; fifteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A visitation will be held at Saint Joseph Church, Cold Spring on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 from 11:00 AM – 11:45 AM with Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 12:00 PM. Raymond J. Schadler, 88, of Camp Springs, KY, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at the River Valley Nursing Home, Butler, KY. Ray was a retired insurance agent. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Marie (Steffen) Schadler, brother, Alvin Schadler and a grandson, Brandon Schadler. Tinnie Evelyn Popp, 91, of Alexandria, KY, passed away Friday, December 30, 2016 at Saint Elizabeth Hospice, Edgewood, KY. Tinnie was a member of the UAW Local 647 and a retired employee of General Motors. Tinnie was preceded in death by a daughter, Julia Nolan, two sons, Jaysee and John Popp. She is survived by a son-in-law, Judge Tim Nolan, two daughter-in-laws, Mitzi Popp and Patti Popp; grandchildren, Taunya Nolan Jack, Tim Nolan II, Dr. Tifany Nolan, Jay Popp Jr., Christine Whyle, Nikki Kurak, Sam Popp, Cheryl Garman and numerous great- grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren.  Services will be at the convenience of the family.
