James E. Martin

James E. Martin, age 78, of Cold Spring, KY, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2016 at his residence.  He worked as an engineer for General Electric for 41 years and was a proud member of the Barbershop Southern Gateway Chorus, Asbury United Methodist Church, and Newport Elks Lodge #273.  Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Helen C. Martin, in 2012.  He is survived by two daughters, Catherine (John) Miller and Cynthia (Troy) Clousson; son, Daniel (Denise) Martin; sisters, Judy (Vern) Bachmann and Mary Jo Martin; 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Cold Spring, KY on Friday, July 1, 2016 at 6:00PM. Following the Memorial Service family and friends are invited to stop by for a reception at Dan and Denise Martin’s home located at 1087 Blossom Dr., Cold Spring, KY 41076 any time after 7:00 PM.  Memorial Donations are suggested to: St. Elizabeth Hospice, 483 S. Mildred C. Kline

Mildred C. Kline, 86, formerly of Highland Heights, KY, passed away June 23, 2016 at Carmel Manor in Fort Thomas, KY. Mildred was a retired executive secretary at the Disabled American Veterans in Cold Spring, KY and a member of Asbury United Methodist Church of Highland Heights, KY. She is survived by her son, Alan (Cathy) Kline; two sisters, Kathy Sponsler and Sharon Brian; three brothers, Mike, Jerry and Ron Cropper. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Kline; parents, Thomas Edgar and Alene Cropper; two brothers, William and Tom Cropper; three sisters, Margaret Himes, Nell Milner and Jenny Myers. Visitation will be held at the Alexandria Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 28 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM and on Wednesday, June 29 from 10:00 AM – 10:45 AM at Asbury United Methodist Church, Highland Heights, KY,
with the funeral service following at 11:00 AM. Entombment will be in the Evergreen Mausoleum, Southgate, KY. Memorials are suggested to Asbury United Methodist Church, Highland Heights, KY.

Jim Walerius

Jim Walerius, 56, of Alexandria, KY, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2016 at home. He was a field engineer for Oracle and a member of Saint Mary of the Assumption Parish, Alexandria, KY. Jim is survived by his wife, Monica Walerius (nee Schack); daughter, Amy (Andrew) Atkinson; son, Michael Walerius; mother, Anne Kappes; siblings, Sharon Spencer, Bob and Bill Walerius; two grandchildren, Olivia and Elin. Visitation will be held at Saint Mary of the Assumption Church, Monday, June 27 from 9:00 AM – 10:45 AM with Mass of Christian Burial following at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Saint Mary Cemetery, Alexandria, KY. Memorials are suggested to Saint Mary Church or to Bishop Brossart High School. Alexandria Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Carl R. Matill

Carl R. Mattill, age 89, of Williamstown, KY (formerly of Alexandria, KY) passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2016. He served in the Navy during WWII and was a retired truck driver.  Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Mattill in 2007. He survived by his son, Raymond (Jane) Mattill; daughter, Penny (Larry) Vaught; 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be held at Alexandria Funeral Home on Monday, June 27, 2016 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM with the Funeral Service immediately following at 1:00 PM.  Burial will be in the Alexandria Cemetery.

John C. Jordan

John C. “Jack” Jordan, 89, of Alexandria, KY, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2016 at his home. He was a retired Fire Captain with the Cincinnati Fire Department, with 29 years of service. John was a WWII Navy Veteran and served in the Philippines as a Boatswain Mate on a LST.  He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters; Saint Mary of the Assumption Parish; Saint Mary Seniors; Police and Fire Retirees of Ohio; and the Fire Protection Association. Preceded in death by a daughter, Sheila Jordan Kappa. He is survived by his wife, the love of his life of 68 years, Bernice Jordan (nee Woeste); children, Doug (Debbie) Jordan, Sue (Brent) Walters and Jeff (Tenessa) Jordan; son-in-law, Michael Kappa; grandchildren, Diane Kappa, Lisa Kappa Malone, Katie Howd Bird, Matthew Howd, Bryce Walters, Melissa Jordan, Lucas Jordan, Jeremy Jordan, Brent Jordan and Ryan Jordan; and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation Friday, June 17 from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM will be held at Saint Mary of the Assumption Church, Alexandria, KY, with Mass of Christian Burial promptly beginning at 11:00 AM.  Entombment in the Saint Joseph Old Cemetery, Cincinnati, OH.  Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, American Cancer Society or in the form of Masses in his name at Saint Mary Church.  Alexandria Funeral Home serving the Family.

Robert F. Henry

Robert F. Henry, 82, of California, KY, passed away Monday, June 6, 2016 at Highlandspring of Fort Thomas. He was a retired trouble shooter for Northern KY Water District, a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War and a member of the International World Wide Church of God. Bob is survived by his wife, Thelma Henry (nee Bihl); children, Roni (Don) Seitz, Teri (Chuck) Carson, Karen Thompson, Robert Henry Jr., Marcus Henry and Kevin (Lisa) Henry; fourteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. A Memorial Visitation will be held Sunday, June 12 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM with a Memorial Service immediately following at 7:00 PM at the Alexandria Funeral Home.

Marjorie E. Rogers

Marjorie E. Rogers, age 96, of Fort Thomas, KY, passed away on Friday, June 3, 2016 at Highlandspring of Ft. Thomas. Marjorie served as an organist in many churches throughout Northern KY for over 55 yrs. She was a member of Alexandria United Methodist Church and the Florence Eastern Star Chapter #559 where she was the Past Matron in 1958-59.  Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Lenore Saal, first husband, Harold V. Martin in 1958, her second husband Joseph E. Rogers in 2010, step son, Wayne Rogers in 2000 and her sister Betty Russell Downing in 2011. She is survived by her nephew, Rodney Russell; step-daughter, Jo Ann Weaver and two great-nieces. Visitation will be held  at Alexandria United Methodist Church, Alexandria, KY, on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM with Funeral Services immediately following at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in the Hopeful Lutheran Cemetery, Florence, KY.

Wanda Marie Lederer

Wanda Marie Lederer (nee Haney), 76, of Alexandria, KY, passed away Friday, June 3, 2016 at home with her family by her side. Wanda is survived by her husband, Val “Bud” Lederer; daughter, Robin (Tim) See; 2 grandchildren, Jake and Jamie See. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Catherine C. Steffen


Catherine C. Steffen (nee Schultz), 90, of Alexandria, Ky, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2016. Catherine and her late husband, William J. Steffen, were the former owners and operators of Bill & Cathy's Carryout in Alexandria for 25 years.  Catherine was a lifelong member of Saint Mary of the Assumption Parish, Alexandria, Ky, a member of Saint Mary Seniors and a volunteer at Children's Hospital, Cincinnati, Oh.  She is survived by her children, Judy (Tom) Geiman, Kenny (Paula) Steffen, Kathleen Steffen (Laura Link), Bill (Ronda) Steffen and Brenda (Danny) Bridges.  Catherine enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren having many sleepovers and weekend "camp outs" in her living room.  She had 10 grandchildren, Angela Siry, Alison Hummel, Thomas Geiman, Aaron Geiman, Rachael Steffen, Holly Steffen, Danielle Downey, Jennifer Bridges, Ben Bridges and Katie Bridges, and seven great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Siry, Madeline Siry, Claire Hummel, Izzy Hummel, Cody Geiman, Avery Geiman and Chandler Bridges.  Visitation 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Sunday, June 5, 2016 at the Alexandria Funeral Home.  Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 AM Monday, June 6, 2016 at Saint Mary of the Assumption Church, Alexandria, Ky.  Memorials are suggested to Saint Mary School, 9 S.
