James W. Kinder, Jr.

James W. Kinder, Jr., age 59, of Alexandria, KY passed away Monday, March 30, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Healthcare, Ft. Thomas, KY. James was a self- employed food broker. He was a member of the Scottish Rite and the Oakley Masonic Lodge No. 668 F&AM. James is survived by his wife, Janet C. Jones Kinder; father, James W. Kinder, Sr.; son, James W. Kinder III(Samantha); daughter, Nicole Knasel(Jason); brother, Jay Kinder; sister, Barbie Matthew; two grandchildren, Kai and Quentin Knasel. Preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Smith Kinder. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 3, 2015 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm with the Funeral Service immediately following at the Alexandria Funeral Home, 325 Washington St., Alexandria, KY 41001. John Randolph Reitman

John Randolph “Randy” Reitman passed away at his home in Alexandria, KY, after a long journey with cancer at the age of 59 on March 28, 2015. He was surrounded by family, including his wife of 39 years, Frances (Reis) Reitman. He was born and raised in Camp Springs, KY, the second son of Helen (Neiser) Reitman and the late Norbert Reitman. His brother, Timothy (Jane) Reitman, lives in Michigan. He was the cherished father of Courtney (Scott) Reitman-Deinlein, Nicholas (Sarah) Reitman and Adam Reitman, and dear grandfather of Taylar and Mitchell Reitman and Ethan Deinlein. He is survived by a large extended family and many friends.
A graduate of Bishop Brossart High School, Randy was the third-generation owner of Reitman Auto Parts & Sales Inc. in Camp Springs, stepping into the leadership of the family business at the age of 20 after his father's death. He served on the board of the Kentucky Auto and Truck Recycling Association for 20 years. A member of the Automotive Recyclers Association since 1985, Randy served the national organization as director of Region 2, chair of the Scholarship Foundation, member of the Executive Committee, Secretary and President (2011-2012). He was honored as Camp Springs' Citizen of the Year in 2013. An avid NASCAR fan, he loved the beach, camping, motorcycles, yard work and traveling. He and Fran traveled the country and the world, exchanging information about automotive recycling.
Friends are invited to gather with his family on Tuesday, March 31, from 3 to 8 p.m., at Alexandria Funeral Home, 325 Washington St., Alexandria, KY. Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Joseph Church, Camp Springs, KY, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 1. Reception following at Camp Springs Fire Department.

Edward Mader, Sr.

Edward Anthony Mader, Sr., age 89, of Alexandria, KY passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his family.  Ed was the owner/operator of Mader Realty and Insurance.  He served in the Army Air Corp. during the end of WWII. He was also an active member of St. Mary Parish, Alexandria, KY and previously served as the assistant chief for the Alexandria Volunteer Fire Department. Ed was preceded in death by two sons, Mark and Timothy Mader. He is survived by his wife of 65yrs, Agnes Marie (nee Birkenhauer) Mader; children, Ed Mader, Jr.(the late Margaret), Pam Mader, Susan Camp(Dale), Mike Mader, Nancy Steffen(Joe), Dick Mader, Mary Ann Jones(Ron), Tony Mader, Beth Sanker(Ken), Wendy Spurlin(Bill), Jan Roberts(Kenny), Chris Kidney(Tim) and Annette Mader; brother, Robert Mader; 35 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 from 9am to 12pm with a Memorial Mass immediately following at St. Mary Parish, 8246 E. Main St., Alexandria, KY 41001. Bessie Irene Vest

Bessie Irene Barrett Vest, age 75, of Cold Spring, KY passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Healthcare, Ft. Thomas, KY. Bessie was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Leo Vest. She is survived by her children, Virgil Dean Spivey (Pamela Rothwell), Eva DeNoma (Mike) and Lisa Clark (Monte Miller); brother, Benton Barrett; sister, Lillie Lynch; ten grandchildren, Jamie and Allen Spivey, Matthew, Sara, Scott, Michael, Jack and Meg DeNoma, Jeremiah and Amber Clark; nine great-grandchildren, Copper, Chase, Delilah, Coltyn, Madison, Chelsea, Kaiden, Caliya and Mason. Ella Fern Nagel Keen

Ella Fern Nagel Keen, age 72, passed away at home in Romona, CA on February 24, 2015. Ella was born and raised in Newport, KY. She was retired supervisor for Sony in California. Ella is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Ashley and her father, Albert Nagel.  She is survived by her mother, Anna L. Bythewood of Independence, KY; four children, Sandra Bello of Casa Grande, AZ, Kelly Coffman, Lawrence E. Keen, Jr. and Vickie F. Law all of Ramona, CA; sisters, Donna S. Kohne of Latonia, KY, Phyllis A. Miller of Lakeside Park, KY and Betty J. Poston of Independence, KY. Ella was blessed with seven grandchildren. Funeral Services took place in California. Ella was loved by many. May she rest in peace.

Clara Hall Tippit

Clara Belle Hall Tippit, age 83, of Newport, KY passed away on Friday, March 13, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Healthcare, Florence, KY. Clara worked as a Nurse Aide for the Baptist Convalescent Center in Newport for 40yrs.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Tippit. She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Govan (Jerry); four sisters, Ava Sue Jackson, Betty Guy, Judy Carrier and Mary Hodgson; three grandsons, Christopher Lee, Eric Nicholas and Michael Allen Govan. Carolynn S. Griffin

Carolynn S. Hooten Griffin, age 66, of Alexandria, KY passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Hospice, Edgewood, KY. Carolynn will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a true nature lover who loved flowers, enjoyed bird watching and believed in being kind, selfless and generous to all. Carolynn is survived by her loving husband, Michael W. Griffin; daughter, Angie Griffin Pfefferman Tarlton (Mike); son, Dr. Paul Griffin; siblings, Larry Hooten, Patty Wuestefeld, Peggy Engleke, Debbie Kramer and John Hooten; grandchildren, Abbey and Jake Pfefferman; she is also survived by a host of family, friends and her much loved cats, Candy and Boy Cat. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Margaret Ferkenhoff Hooten and her brother, Ronnie Hooten. Charles Edward Rust, Sr.

Charles Edward Rust, Sr., age 81, of Twelve Mile, KY passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at his residence.  He was born November 7, 1933 in Twelve Mile, KY to parents Felix and Agnes Zink Rust. He served in the Army and worked as a craftsman for Bob Noll Builders for 30yrs. Mr. Rust was a lifetime member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church, California, KY where he was a model for time, talent and treasure.  He was also a member of the Alexandria VFW Post 3205, a life time member of St. Peter Court Catholic Order of Foresters and a forty year member of the Kentucky COF State Court where he served 24yrs as Chief Ranger. Mr. Rust is survived by his wife of 57yrs, Marian Baumann Rust; children, Sharon Rust of Southgate, C. Edward Rust, Jr.(Laura) of California, Cindy Beck (Jim) of Cincinnati, Tim Rust of Walton, Pam Dumaine (Tom) of California, and Jackie Schmidt (Don) of Grantsburg, IN; grandchildren, Carey Shea (Cassie), Alesia Beck Shoulders (Rod), Jesi Beck Mann (Dustin), Jason Beck, Charles & Jonathan Rust, Jennie, Anne Marie, Lauren and Michael Dumaine, Donny Schmidt; great-grandchildren, Raymond, Charlie, Roger and Parker Shoulders, Dominic Mann; sisters, Mary Hartman of Dayton, KY and Agnes Baumann (Howard) of Warner Robins, Georgia; brother-in-law, Norbert Franzen. Jeanne Bridewell (nee Axt), 87, of Alexandria, KY, passed away Monday, March 2, 2015 at the Cold Spring Transitional Care Center. Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bridewell and a daughter, Sharon Stemmle. She is survived by her children, Janice (Gene) Harden, Bonnie Winters (Kevin) King, Randy (Susan) Winters, Bonnie (Ed) Herzog, Gary Winters and Marcia (Rick) Stegeman; brother, David Axt; sister, Faye Saddlemire; 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Franklin D. Watts

Franklin D. Watts, 81, of Alexandria, KY, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015 at home. Franklin served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a former Kentucky State Trooper and a retired teacher with Campbell County Schools. He was a member of the Campbell County Teachers Association and Main Street Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Doris Watts (nee Caudill); children, Jeffery (Rhonda), Martin and Letha Watts; granddaughters, Christina (Mitchel) Deaton and Nicole Watts; brother, Bernard Watts; sisters, Lorene Caudill, Mae Williams and Mary Blair. Larry C. Steffen

Larry C. Steffen, 83, of Alexandria, KY, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Saint Elizabeth Fort Thomas. Larry was a retired supervisor for C. G. & E. He was in the Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He was Past Master of the Alexandria Lodge # 152 F. & A. M. of Alexandria, KY. Larry was preceded in death by a daughter, Laurie Hoffman. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Lou Steffen (nee Hogle); children, Letty (Tim) Murphy, Daniel Steffen and David (Lori) Steffen; sister, Patricia (Berce) Wagner; 7 grandchildren, Jeremy (Shawn) Hoffman, Tim Steffen, Tom Wogan, Sarah Steffen, Jason Steffen, Samantha Steffen and Jozi Steffen; 8 great-grandchildren.
