Alford, 86, a lifelong resident of Alexandria, KY, passed away Saturday, June
27, 2015 at his home. Roy was retired, he worked as a union tile setter, managed
the Spare Time Grill and was an avid golfer. He was preceded in death by his
parents, Chester And Elsie (Pelle) Alford; his wife, Marilyn (Lamarr) Alford and a
brother, Harry Alford. He is survived by his daughter, Vicki Kinney; son, Tony
Alford; 4 grandchildren, Robb Kinney, Kellie Roderick, Jeff and Kevin Alford; 2
great-grandchildren, McKensie and Jaxon Roderick. Visitation 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at the Alexandria Funeral Home, Alexandria, KY. Funeral
service 11:00 AM Thursday, July 2, 2015 at the funeral home. Interment will be in
the Alexandria Cemetery.

Marie Smith Thornton
Marie
Thornton (nee Smith), 98, of Butler, KY, passed away, Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at
the Baptist Convalescent Center, Newport, KY. She was born November 5, 1916 as
the first child of the late Grover and the late Georgia Schafer Smith. She was
preceded in death by her husband of more than 60 years, Wilmer P. Thornton; a brother,
Philip Smith and a sister, Imogene Johnston Harrison. Marie is survived by her
son, Myron (Marilyn) Thornton of Grant’s Lick; daughter, Audrey (James C.) Carr
of Georgetown; grandson, Gregg (Paige) Thornton of Lexington and their
children, Hillary, Chase, and Clay; grandson, Thomas Lane (Dianne) Carr of Georgetown;
granddaughter, Julia Anne (Matt) Carr-Trebelhorn of Lexington; sister, Etta Mae
(Billy) Sills of Lexington; brother-in-law, Roy Harrison; also survived by many
nieces, nephews and cousins. Marie was a lifetime homemaker and resident of
Campbell County. She was a long-time member of Grant’s Lick Baptist Church and for the last
many years, Fairlane Baptist Church. Visitation 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM Thursday,
June 18, 2015 at the Alexandria Funeral Home, Alexandria, KY. Funeral service 11:00
AM Friday, June 19 at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Oakland
Cemetery, Grant’s Lick, KY. Memorials are suggested to the Oakland Cemetery,

Erwin "Buddy" Brossart
Erwin “Buddy” Brossart, age 93, of Alexandria, KY passed away
Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Carmel Manor, Ft. Thomas, KY. Buddy was a man of
many talents and interests. His lifelong
love of mechanics led him to a career as an independent mechanic in Alexandria,
KY. He is survived by his wife of 68yrs, Lillian Johanneman Brossart; son, Paul
(Cheryl) Brossart; daughters, Carol (Herald) Phelps, Mary Lynn (Richard) Crail
and Janet Brossart; brother-in-law, Lou Burkhardt; 7 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Billy Brossart. Visitation will be
held on Monday, June, 15, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. till 11:45 a.m. with Mass of
Christian Burial beginning at 12:00 p.m. at St. Mary Parish, Alexandria, KY.
Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Alexandria, KY. Memorials are
suggested to: Carmel Manor, 100 Carmel Manor Rd, Ft. Thomas, KY 41075. Alexandria

Rudolph
Zinser, 77, of Cold Spring, KY, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2015 Highlandspring
of Fort Thomas. He was a retired supervisor for Cincinnati Gas and Electric.
Rudolph was preceded in death by his loving wife, Janet (Flora) Zinser; mother,
Beatrice (Shelton) Meece and a sister, Christine Leopold. He is survived by two
children, Rick Zinser of Wilder, KY and Becky (Charlie) Ploeger of Hebron, KY; three grandchildren, Megan, Tyler and Ashley
Ploeger. Visitation 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Thursday, June 11, 2015 at the Alexandria
Funeral Home, Alexandria, KY. Funeral service 11:00 AM Friday at the funeral
Home. Interment will be in the Grandview Cemetery, Mentor, KY.
