She was former owner\operator of the Butler Restaurant in Butler, KY & a dry goods store in Alexandria, KY. She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Lemos & a brother, Bill Alford. She is survived by her husband, Jeff Richard Hardy; a daughter, Donna Young of Alexandria, KY; two grandsons, Greg & Jeff Young both of Alexandria, KY; a sister Alma Chalk of lexington, KY. Helen Berwanger
Helen M. (nee Oder) Berwanger, age 76, of California, KY, passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, March 20, 2012. She was a homemaker and always put her family first. Family and UK basketball brought much joyto her life. She was preceded in death by her late husband Wesley “Gene” Berwanger in 1991 and her late brother, Reuben E. Oder, Jr. in 1978. Surviving family include: Sons, Gerald Berwanger of California, KY and William(Dia) Berwanger of Bellevue, KY; daughters, Catherine (Jeffrey) Reinzan of Pendleton Co., KY, Peggy (Bob) Gardner of Cold Spring, KY and Jeanne Berwanger of California, KY; sister, Cecelia Wolfe of Newport, KY; 10 grandchildren, Rob, Christy, Joseph, Mike, Bob, Alex, Keith, Sophia, Stephen and Ava; 3 great grandchildren, Joshua, Andrew and Juliana. Shirley Marie (nee Cline) Cobb, age 76, of Cold Spring, KY, died Thursday, March 15, 2012, at Saint Elizabeth Hospice Center in Edgewood, KY. She retired from the Campbell County Public Library after 24 yrs of service. She was a member of the Christian Tabernacle Church in Newport and active with the Alexandria Fair Board, 4H Club, and the Girl Scouts. She is preceded in death by her parents William and Helen Cline; son, James Cline; sister, Janet Fornash. Survivors include her husband, Stanley H. Carol Fern Bowers, age 88, of Cold Spring, KY, passed away quietly on March 7, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Ft. Thomas, KY. She was born on May 30, 1923 in Bluffton, Ohio to Lillie (Hauenstein) and Joy Victor Anderson. She married Charles Homer Bowers on September 16, 1942. They had two boys Michael Alan (Scarlett) Bowers of Sharonville, Ohio and John Charles (Linda) Bowers of Cold Spring, KY. She loved travel and was active in Women's Club, Scouting, in the lives of her kids, 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and the United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, 2 sisters, her husband (2000) and great granddaughter Sophie Grace Chowning. A "Celebration of Life" service will be held at the Alexandria United Methodist Church on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at 7:00PM.
