Elizabeth
Thatcher Klem, 90, of Alexandria, KY, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at
home. Elizabeth was a former employee at the Netherland Plaza Hotel,
Cincinnati, OH, a member of the Alexandria United Methodist Church, D.A.R.
Rebecca Bryan Boone Chapter, Campbell County Historical Society, a volunteer at
Saint Luke Hospital, AARP Alexandria Chapter, Happy 100’s, D.A.V. Auxiliary and
a life member of the Campbell County VFW Post #3205 Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband,
William Bernard Klem, a sister, Edith Thatcher Bedford and her parents, Jack H.
and Lillian Cole Thatcher. Elizabeth is
survived by a sister, Lillian Shaw, four nieces, Jacqueline Shaw, Rolla E.
Bedford (Lawrence N. Goldstein), Bonnie Combs (Michael D. Combs), Janalee Shaw,
a nephew, Scott Shaw and a great nephew, Alex M. Combs. Visitation Thursday,
February 9, 2017 at the Alexandria Funeral Home from 4:00 PM until time of
Campbell County VFW Auxiliary service at 6:45 PM, the funeral service will
immediately follow at 7:00 PM. Interment
will be in the Alexandria Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 7388 Turfway Road, Florence, KY 41042 or Alexandria United Methodist Church, 8386 W. Main Street, Alexandria, KY 41001.

I knew Liz all my life. She was a wonderfully active person with a deep and abiding love of Alexandria. I treasured my contacts with her. It was through her that I found out from whom my middle name came.
