Alberta Mae
Sims (nee Kohls), age 81, of Alexandria,
KY, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2016 at Saint Elizabeth Fort Thomas.
Alberta was a retired employee of Western Southern. She was an avid softball
player and was the first woman ever to be inducted into the National Softball
Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City, OK. Alberta was preceded in death by parents,
Harry B. and Phyllis (nee Veerkamp) Kohls; her husband, Carroll Sims in
1974; her son, Kevin Sims, 6 days prior
to her death, on September 30, 2016 in Seattle, WA; two brothers, Alfred and
David Kohls; two sisters, Patricia Kohls and Jo Ann King. Alberta is survived
by three sisters, Betty Kohls, Marilyn Kerns and Harriett (Sanford) Record; one
brother, Bill (Joanne) Kohls and 21 beloved nieces and nephews. Visitation
Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Saint Joseph Church, Camp Springs from 2:00 PM –
2:45 PM with a joint Mass for Alberta and Kevin following at 3:00 PM. Burial
Saint Joseph Cemetery, Camp Springs. Arrangements entrusted to the Alexandria
Funeral Home.
